6.2 earthquake northeast of La Paz yesterday

Yesterday at 5::45 pm local there was a 6.2 magnitude earthquake 75 km north-northeast of La Paz and it was felt here in Cabo. No structural damage reported here but as a precaution the schools were closed for today. We felt a slight tremor, nothing that would have made you even notice it if you were in California! Just a little shake that made plate glass windows move just a slight amount. The quake was 10 km deep and had a series of smaller follow-up quakes over the next 6 hours. I checked our house and there was no damage to be seen, even the pup did not seem to notice anything happen, but it may have been because she was busy getting treats, and we know where the priorities are in that case!
Our area slowly moves to the norhtwest at about 95 mm per year with the Pacific and North American plates working against each other, this is what has formed the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez). Basicly we are at the southern end of the San Andreas Fault and get some tremors every year, but nothing like what is experienced farther to the north. Just to keep you updated. Most of this information was taken from the USGS Earthquake website and we appreciate it being made easily available!
